Who We Are

We are a global south-led and grounded transnational feminist alliance of younger feminists, committed to fostering stronger communities by building trust, nurturing solidarity, and sharing power.

In 2010, a group of young feminists from across the globe came together to develop a joint understanding of the political context and to strategize around the opportunities to advance SRHR in the lead-up to some key international policy negotiations. These included the 20th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, and preparations for what would later become the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. RESURJ emerged out of this SRHR strategy meeting, noting the palpable absence of global south younger feminists active in these spaces. By then, feminist engagement in global policy spaces was entrenched in the hegemony of the global north and among older, and often white, feminist leaders. RESURJ was formed from the realization that younger feminists from the south needed to create our own spaces in order to be heard and organize towards advancing an agenda that reflected our realities on the ground. While our purpose and work have opened up since, we continue to prioritize co-creating and holding space with for younger feminists wherever we find ourselves.

Our Vision

We dream of a world where sexual and reproductive justice is a reality for women, adolescents and young people, in all of our diversity, and we can enjoy pleasure, bodily autonomy, integrity and freedoms.

Our Mission

Resurj is a transnational alliance of younger global South feminists grounded in diverse social justice movements to lead, create and hold space for the realisation of sexual and reproductive justice. We do this by sharing power, building feminist accountability praxis, generating alternatives to systems of oppression, nurturing communities, centering intersectionality, and caring for lands, oceans and diverse ecosystems that we are part of.
